Hodgson Academy is a mixed comprehensive school for students aged 11 to 16.  The academy’s ethos is friendly, positive and well disciplined with  high expectations for every single student to ensure they strive to achieve to the very best of their ability. Each individual is appropriately supported and challenged throughout their time at the academy.

Examination results are consistently amongst the highest in Lancashire and compare extremely well nationally. The vast majority of Hodgson students go into further education at 16 and large numbers enter higher education at 18.

There’s an exceptionally wide range of extra-curricular activities to complement learning. All students are encouraged to participate in some form of the extended provision – entitled the Hodgson Experience - to aid personal growth. The academy is especially proud of its reputation in music, drama and sport.

Hodgson Academy was judged as ‘outstanding’ following their last full Ofsted inspection in September 2008. In 2011, Ofsted revisited to look at the provision within the English department. Achievement, teaching and learning, curriculum, leadership and management and overall provision were all judged to be ‘outstanding’ within English.

The academy is renowned for being cutting edge and at the forefront of exciting changes within the education landscape. Hodgson is a National Teaching School, in partnership with Blackpool Sixth Form College, so plays a leading national role in supporting the training and professional development of the teaching profession.

Education should be a challenging and enjoyable experience, where hard work and a desire to achieve bring their own rewards. Students are supported to gain the appropriate qualifications, skills and attributes they need for further education and a successful life after school. As a consequence, students are well educated, well rounded, confident and respectful of others.
