The first FCAT Governors Premises and Health & Safety training session took place on Wednesday 16 March at Unity Academy. Led by John Topping, FCAT Director of Resources and Gary Fletcher, FCAT Health and Safety Lead, the 90 minute session looked at a wide range of governance related features associated with a quality strategic oversight of school premises and the linked health and safety requirements.
John Topping said: "feedback from delegates indicates that more sessions on this topic would be welcomed; focusing on specific areas of Health and Safety and the way in which FCAT policies can be tailored to cover the requirements of individual academies. Additional comments indicated that the session made one delegate very aware of their important responsibilities as an academy governor. Gary and I look forward to leading further sessions on this very important component of governor training within our FCAT multi academy trust".
