At the heart of our trust’s literacy strategy is WIKI - a bespoke, research-driven programme designed to empower students to become independent, confident readers. Standing for "What I Know, I will use," the WIKI way shifts the focus from dictionary-dependence to morphological mastery. By teaching students to use our custom-printed WIKI Bookmarks to decode prefixes, roots, and suffixes, we give them the tools to unlock the 60% of English words - and 90% of scientific vocabulary - derived from Greek and Latin. We don’t just teach words; we teach the "code" of the English language.

This home grown approach provides a structured, multi-tiered approach to reading, spelling, and vocabulary acquisition. Our schools utilise four distinct strands to ensure no child is left behind, a mix of whole class and small group approaches:

  • WIKI Build: Our flagship programme focusing on etymology and morphology. Using our bespoke bookmarks, students learn to break down complex curriculum vocabulary, building the "stamina" needed for academic success across all subjects
  • WIKI Origin: A targeted phonics-style intervention for students who need to bridge specific gaps in basic decoding.
  • WIKI Flow: A dedicated fluency intervention. We baseline every student’s reading fluency and provide small-group practice with specialist tutors for those requiring additional support.
  • WIKI Multi: Tailored 1:1 and small-group support for students where English is an Additional Language (EAL), focusing on decoding and confidence-building to ensure full curriculum access.
