Fylde Coast Academy Trust (FCAT) are proud to be delivery partners with LLSE to deliver a range of National Professional Qualifications (NPQs). We will work together with LLSE  to develop and deliver these high quality programmes, based on DfE frameworks. NPQ in Leading Teaching (NPQLT)

The National Professional Qualification in Leading Teaching (NPQLT) is for teachers who have, or are aspiring to have, responsibilities for leading teaching in a subject, year group, key stage or phase.

Duration: 12-15 months

What will I be studying?

The course consists of three modules, with one face to face session and 2 webinars per module. The key topics covered over the course of the three modules are:

  • Effective teaching
  • School culture
  • Knowledge of how pupils learn
  • The development of subjects and curriculum design
  • Effective classroom practice
  • Adaptive teaching
  • Assessment
  • Professional development
  • Principles of implementation

How will I be assessed?

Formative assessment takes place throughout the programme, helping you to understand the progress you are making, and facilitators to adapt your learning experiences.

Summative assessment takes the form of a 1500-word response to a case study, completed in a single 8-day window at the end of your programme. The assessment will give you the opportunity to demonstrate how you would deploy the knowledge, skills and understanding gained through the NPQ to lead and implement a specific aspect of change.

NPQ in Leading Behaviour and Culture (NPQLBC)

The National Professional Qualification in Leading Behaviour and Culture (NPQLBC) is for teachers and school leaders who have, or are aspiring to have, responsibilities for leading behaviour or supporting student wellbeing in their school. For example, learning managers or roles with other pastoral responsibilities.

Duration: 12-15 months

What will I be studying?

The course consists of three modules, with one face to face session and 2 webinars per module. The key topics covered over the course of the three modules are:

  • Effective teaching
  • School Culture
  • Enabling conditions for good behaviour
  • Complex behavioural needs
  • Professional development
  • Effective implementation

How will I be assessed?

Formative assessment takes place throughout the programme, helping you to understand the progress you are making, and facilitators to adapt your learning experiences.

Summative assessment takes the form of a 1500-word response to a case study, completed in a single 8-day window at the end of your programme. The assessment will give you the opportunity to demonstrate how you would deploy the knowledge, skills and understanding gained through the NPQ to lead and implement a specific aspect of change.

The National Professional Qualification in Senior Leadership (NPQSL) is for teachers who have, or are aspiring to have, responsibilities for leading the development of other teachers in their school. They may have responsibilities for the development of all teachers across a school or specifically trainees or teachers who are early in their career.

Duration: 18-21 months

What will I be studying?

The course consists of four modules, with one face to face session and 2 webinars per module. The key topics covered over the course of the four modules are:

  • School / college culture
  • Teaching 
  • Curriculum and assessment 
  • Behaviour
  • Additional and special educational needs and disabilities
  • Professional development
  • Organisational management 
  • Implementation
  • Working in partnership
  • Governance and accountability

How will I be assessed?

NPQ in Headship (NPQH)

The National Professional Qualification in Headship (NPQH) is for school leaders who are, or are aspiring to be, a headteacher or head of school with responsibility for leading a school.

Duration: 18-21 months

What will I be studying?

The course consists of four modules, with one face to face session and 2 webinars per module. The key topics covered over the course of the four modules are:

  • School / college culture
  • Teaching 
  • Curriculum and assessment 
  • Behaviour
  • Additional and special educational needs and disabilities
  • Professional development
  • Organisational management 
  • Implementation
  • Working in partnership
  • Governance and accountability

How will I be assessed?

NPQ for Special Educational Needs Co-Ordinators

LLSE is partnering with Teach First to offer you the opportunity to study the NPQSENCO. The National Professional Qualification for Special Educational Needs Co-Ordinators (NPQSENCO) is for new, existing and aspiring SENCOs and those who want to understand what underpins successful SEND leadership.

Duration: 18-21 months

What will I be studying?

This course is comprised of 10 modules. As part of each module you will undertake some face-to-face training and tutoring, online webinars, and carry out self-study using Teach First's dedicated learning platform. You will be expertly guided through your modules by your facilitators.
 
Modules include:

  • How to develop an inclusive culture
  • The identification and assessment of SEND
  • Understanding and implementation of statutory SEND legislation
  • A focus on working in partnership with leaders, families and external agencies

Throughout the course, there are opportunities for you to complete formative assessment activities which will enable you and your facilitator to reflect on and evaluate the progress you make whilst completing the qualification.
